Hello Everyone,
Sorry it took so long to write this, but I have been so busy with the economy and all,,,anyway here goes nothing.
On Saturday February 7th @ 10pm, I boarded a plane bound to NY, NY from Los Angeles, California (aka The Land of LA). Arriving at 6am Sunday morning I immediately went to my hotel for an early check-in...but no such luck. As I wondered the streets of Manhattan, tired and sleepy, I asked myself..."Is it really worth a 6,000 mile roundtrip flight to see Kristin perform in a play that hasn't been seen in 50+ years?"
At 2pm I did check in. I got a 2 hour nap and then went to dinner and met up with my dear friend Katie B at the theatre. Katie had seen the show 3 times already...a true KC fan.
This is my 3rd Encore performance. I never knew anything about Encores until KC came into my life and did the Apple Tree. That was an amazing show. KC at her best.
Well, I was amazed. This show that received such poor reviews, was nothing less than OUTSTANDING!!! A great bit of musical-theater, a charming old time love story with Kristin playing the Opera Company's DIVA, and play the part of a DIVA she did, maybe too well. (LOL).
Kristin stole the show, even as a brunette...OMG!!! She acted and sang as if she never left Broadway (and she hasn't). The audience gave her a S.O. and she earned it. The cast, orchestra, stage direction and presentation was first class all the way. She truly is "The Amazing Chenoweth."
So to answer my question, was it worth the time, trouble and expense to travel across the country to see Kristin perform...the answer came to me the moment she stepped on the stage...GOD YES.
Yours from the Land of LA,
Steve Drust
